Thank you for choosing e2i home care. Inviting a caregiver into your home is a decision built on trust, and we take that trust seriously. This guide explains how your care works, who we serve and where, our services, how services are paid for, our caregivers, working with your aide, who may not be a fit, safety and emergencies, fraud, ethics and compliance, and who to call when you need us. It is the same guide as your printed Care Path folder.

- Your Home Health Aide is not a Nurse. The Home Health Aide is a paraprofessional who is functioning according to a written Plan of Care prepared by a Nurse Supervisor assigned to your care.
- The Home Health Aide can only do the tasks outlined on the written Plan of Care. Please do not ask them to do things that are not on the Plan of Care such as heavy cleaning, moving furniture, washing windows or turning mattresses.
- Companions are not trained or allowed to perform Personal Care services or touch the Client. Please do not ask a Companion to do Personal Care. This is for your protection.
- Please do not loan or give money, gifts or gratuity to your Home Health Aide.
- Changes in the work schedule must go through the office. Do not make private arrangements directly with your Home Health Aide.
- Visits are recorded in Verveware. Please make sure the times are correct.
- The Nurse Supervisor will visit you periodically to evaluate the Home Health Aide’s efficiency and your progress, and to discuss any issues. You may also call a Nurse Supervisor at any time to discuss your care.
- Do not attempt to hire our Home Health Aides privately. Any Home Health Aide who accepts private work can lose their certification and will be dismissed from our Agency.
- Our Home Health Aides and Nurses are NOT required to be CPR certified. Danielle’s Law requires that we call 9-1-1 in an emergency.
- If you have any problems or concerns about the performance or behavior of your Home Health Aides, please call the Agency immediately and speak with a Nurse Supervisor.

Because we provide non-medical home care, we are not able to serve individuals who require ongoing skilled nursing or medical treatment beyond the scope of a home health aide, or whose needs cannot be safely met at home. In these situations, we are glad to help point you toward more appropriate resources.

Danielle’s Law
In accordance with Danielle’s Law, employees are required to call 9-1-1 in life-threatening emergencies. As defined in the law, “life-threatening emergency means a situation in which a prudent person could reasonably believe that immediate intervention is necessary to protect the life of a person receiving services or to protect the lives of other persons in the home from an immediate threat or actual occurrence of a potentially fatal injury, impairment to bodily functions or dysfunction of a bodily organ or part.”
In compliance with this law, the Agency employees are instructed to call 9-1-1 if they feel there is an emergency in the home, regardless of the family’s wishes. Failure to call 9-1-1 in a life-threatening emergency includes monetary fines, and a health care professional, licensed or alternately authorized to provide services, may be subject to revocation of that professional license or other authorization to practice as a health care professional.
Your emergency plan
At your first assessment, your nurse prepares an emergency plan with you and reviews it at each visit. It covers how you would leave your home safely, who to contact, where your medical information and any Advance Directive are kept, and backup arrangements for oxygen or other powered equipment.
Clients who would need help in a disaster may also register with New Jersey’s Register Ready program (registerready.nj.gov); we are glad to help.
